Native Fruit Tree Distribution and Fundraiser for Palestine

From @rogersparkseedlibrary: Please join us Saturday April 6th from 1-4pm for a Native Fruit Tree Giveaway at @poboxcollective 6900 N. Glenwood Ave(accessibility info below). We are very delighted to be continuing the generous groundwork set up by @sowrecalcitrant and are picking up this tree distribution initiative from them. πŸ’ž We will be giving away 100 pairs* each of native persimmon, pawpaws, chokecherry and elderberry. (*Yes, we are giving out two of each of these because most of them need another plant for pollination.) These are bare root saplings and will need to get potted or planted as soon as possible. We are asking for a sliding scale donation of $0-$40 per pair of trees. We’re collaborating with Jewish Voice for Peace Chicago on this event and they will be collecting all donations to give to @chiyouth4justice - an abolitionist, anti-imperialist network of students from Chicagoland high schools who have been organizing and fundraising in solidarity with Palestine. We distribute these native fruit trees to fundraise and honor those in Palestine fighting to preserve their own cultural food ways and native plants. As you sow these young trees we invite you to commit to deepening and ongoing solidarity with the Palestinian people and all Indigenous people fighting for sovereignty, dignity and Land Back. As these trees rise, grow and bear fruit let us also rise in resistance to the violence of white supremacy, colonization and imperialism here on Turtle Island and around the world πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έβ€οΈβ€πŸ”₯ The PO Box Collective space is located at ground level, is accessible by ramp and has an accessible bathroom. Mask are REQUIRED while inside the space. We will also have 2 air purifiers running. If there is a line outside, we will set up some chairs for folks who need to sit.
